More than Town and Gown PR…..Beyond the Service Learning Fad

Colleges and universities are constantly striving to make the best possible connections with the towns that they are seated in.  Often the PR department schedules free event or the school will increase the punishment of school code violations to show the town that they are there to work with them.

Service learning is great way to not only help the surrounding communities and reinforce the charitable values of a college but it allows students to experience new ways to learn.  National recognition is also a benefit of service learning programs on campus.  Like St. Joesph University,  other schools are receiving national accolades for their dedication to the neighborhood around them.

What kind of service learning program does your school have in place?
