Clery Act Updates Combat Hate Crimes

The “Clery Act” is named in memory of 19 year old university freshman Jeanne Ann Clery who was raped and murdered while asleep in her residence hall room on April 5, 1986.

After this horrific event, a law was passed that required both public and private universities to disclose information on and around their campuses.

The handbook for campus safety & security reporting was just recently updated and re-released by the Department of Education.  There are changes, updates and additions to what and how each campus must report each different type of crime.

What are these changes and how will they affect you?  How has YOUR school benefited from this handbook?  Or, what would you change in the handbook to help you better?
