College Social Media Strategy: What is Yours?

Posted on May 10, 2011 by

If your school wants to be active in the  social media world by listening, commenting, sharing and curating, you’ll have to find a way to develop a strategy that fits into your organizational structure.

Jeremiah Owyang introduced thee different strategies and the pros and cons of each in his  Social Media Trends for 2010 presentation.

  • The first option is a DISTRIBUTED model, where there is no overarching guide or policy mandated by the institution.
  • The second option is a CENTRALIZED model, where policies and messages are all controlled by a single group.
  • The third would be a COORDINATED strategy, which takes the best parts of both distributed and centralized models.

Is your strategy reflecting any of these different hypothesis?
